“ART STUDENTS ADD COLOR TO RED HOOK AND RHINEBECK”
Students at Imagination Station in Red Hook are displaying their works in a variety of local venues for residents’ enjoyment.
To celebrate the Chinese zodiac “Year of the Horse,” the art students in the third through 10th grade at Imagination Station have created paintings of horses, which range from a majestic cloak-wearing horse to one soaring in the atmosphere beyond.
The show is featured at Starr Library in Rhinebeck until the end of March and exhibits the wide range of students’ interpretations.
Younger students, Pre-K through second grade, will have their colorful horse paintings hanging in the north wing entrance to the Chocolate Factory in Red Hook. Fun and fanciful, decorated with bright hues and patterns, the horses are those from another delightful land.
Another Imagination Station show is being hosted by Bread & Bottle in Red Hook and is titled “Self-Portraits.” The portraits were done on paper and canvas with ink and washes, pencil and charcoal sketches by students in Pre-K to 10th grade. The exhibit also runs through the end of March.
And over at the Enchanted Cafe in Red Hook, an exhibit of students’ comic book and pen and ink drawings opens Sat., March 15 until the end of the month. The students’ work came out of a Comic Book Saturday Workshop series at Imagination Station with Taylor Cohen Cha, an instructor from the University of Pennsylvania. Students learned the art of comic books and drawing techniques and also created pen and ink drawings.
